This sculpture is a portrait of a mother and recalls suffering endured. Originally entitled, “I Cried Out,” the sculpture was completed in 1985. Then in 2002 Dr. Andrew B. Rawls, media specialist, photo- graphed the sculpture creating the possibility for this new viewpoint on the sculpted portrait.

“Face on the Waters” affirms the creative power of a woman, and affirms new creation coming out of chaos; new creation in the face of death and near-death experiences.
